A Very Merry Kendall Christmas Extravaganza

Posted by nattya61 on December 26, 2011

After a long absence from the blogging world, I decided to write a little post about our Christmas. It was probably the best Christmas I’ve had as an adult. We kept things relaxed this year and stayed at home, so everything seemed extra cozy. Even though we don’t celebrate Christmas like the average Missourians, we still have a lot of fun with our own meaningful traditions. Read the rest of this entry »

Food, Inc.

Posted by nattya61 on February 8, 2010

I like food. It’s no secret. I love to eat. It’s amazing I ever became this way because while growing up, meal time was not fun time. Momma had serious food issues. Read the rest of this entry »

Food Talk

I’ve been trying to eat better. Not diet. If I believed in a devil I’d say he invented diets. I’m just trying to eat better  in an effort to be healthier this year. Read the rest of this entry »

Feeling Better!

Posted by nattya61 on November 25, 2009

So, after being on iron pills for three days and trying to eat better…ok, trying to actually eat more than cereal and spinach dip, I am feeling much better. Yay!

Nick’s first tooth came in yesterday! So exciting! Well, it’s exciting to me. He won’t let us see it, yet. We can feel it, though. He’s also babbling “Mama” incessantly now, and not just when he’s mad. He’s going to be the cutest little thing at Thanksgiving this year!

Today starts my countdown to Thanksgiving break! In 23 hours Nick, Bryan, and I will be on the road to Salem and heading towards food and family!

On a side note (pun intended), am I the only one who considers turkey more of the afterthought of the Thanksgiving meal. I always seem to put it on my plate first, but it’s the one thing I least enjoy eating. I love all the side dishes – the dressing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce (if it’s homemade), sweet potatoes, and even the corn and green beans, but the turkey is something I always doctor up with the cranberry sauce and potatoes so I can actually enjoy it. Now, I know turkey is probably the healthiest thing on the plate and eating it probably keeps me from eating too much pie after the meal since the protein is more filling and such, but still. If the turkey was absent, I’d probably be just as happy with the Thanksgiving meal.

Well, it’s time for me to sign off for now. Today there is still work to do, and I need to write up my packing list so packing will go much quicker tonight. I’m all about lists, for those of you who don’t know.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Restaurants on a Roll: I Give a Big “Eww!” to Yahoo

Posted by nattya61 on November 9, 2009

Yahoo posted an article about restaurants who have “gotten it right” in this economy. Here’s my problem, of the restaurants on the list that I’ve been to, they are places I’d rather not waste my money. Let’s look at the list. Read the rest of this entry »

Fall Goodness!

Posted by nattya61 on November 2, 2009

cookbook coverI hope everyone had a great weekend! It is finally feeling like fall. Nicholas noticed the fall leaves for the first time on Saturday. He was in awe of all the pretty colors.

A little while back I ordered a free Gooseberry Patch Fall Favorites cookbook. Gooseberry Patch cookbooks are always my favorites, so I was really excited to get this one for free. This weekend we decided to make the  Mediterranean  Spaghetti and Savory Baked Pears. Bryan and I agreed this was seriously the best meal we’d had in a long time. Read the rest of this entry »
