A glimpse into the brain of a writer-momma-nerd.

We learned yesterday that Nicholas is in the stage where he only wants Mommy or Daddy to hold him. He screamed when Bryan handed him to my dad. It was the Santa debacle all over again. Poor kid. Poor Grandpa! Nicholas eventually got used to him, but it took a while.

Grandpa not feeling so good.

Dad was sick last night (getting a bad cold, poor daddy!), so maybe it was a good thing Nick wasn’t all over him. Poor Daddy. We went to Olive Garden. Dad wanted to go somewhere close, so since we weren’t in the mood for fast food or burgers the OG was really our only option. The food was good, though, and we left very stuffed.

While we were there, Nicholas ate part of a coaster. We didn’t think much when he started playing with it, or even when he started chewing on it. Then, we noticed, oh no, that he had part of it in his mouth. He swallowed it before Bryan could fish it out. Bryan was so scared Nicholas would get choked, but he just swallowed it right down. At least it’s just paper and not a quarter or something, but I’m sure that’s to come.

We went to Target after Dad left because we needed a few things. Poor little Nicholas fell asleep in the cart while we were there, so Bryan held him for part of our shopping trip. We just went in to get milk and baby Tylenol, but by the time we’d left we had racked up $100 worth of stuff. But, here’s why. Awesomeness ahead!

In the back of the store they are having what they are calling “The Great Save Event.”  We didn’t renew our Sam’s Club membership since Nick will be off formula soon and that’s the main bought at Sam’s, so we don’t really even look at bulk items anymore. However, at Target last night we were able to get:

– 129 Pampers (126 + sample of 3 in the box) for $35.99 = savings $7
– 2 cans of Up&Up formula for $20.00 = savings of $4
– 20 bars of Dial soap for $7.68 = savings of around $2
– a movie for Bryan and Nick (superhero cartoons) for $5
– a white long-sleeved t-shirt for Nick for $3 = savings of $10 compared to the one I was going to buy him at the mall this weekend

Total savings (not including the movie…that was for fun), including tax, almost $30. Though, I’m more excited about not having to buy Pampers for a long time. Nick only wears Pampers at night, so we have enough to last a long while now.

Other than that we printed out some pictures of Nick. (I went to Michael’s yesterday and got enough to scrapbook about 4 more pages…his first year scrapbook only has 6 blank page spots to go…oh my!) We found two Disney Comics books in the dollar section for Nick; bought some baby food, rice (both on sale), and Nick two more bibs (his two favorite ones smell around the neck, even after multiple washings…those went in the trash yesterday); and yes, bought the Tylenol (Target brand) and milk. Thus, we got a lot of stuff, some needed, some just for fun, but what fun is it if you don’t get something “just because” sometimes?

I hope everyone has a great weekend!
