So, after being on iron pills for three days and trying to eat better…ok, trying to actually eat more than cereal and spinach dip, I am feeling much better. Yay!
Nick’s first tooth came in yesterday! So exciting! Well, it’s exciting to me. He won’t let us see it, yet. We can feel it, though. He’s also babbling “Mama” incessantly now, and not just when he’s mad. He’s going to be the cutest little thing at Thanksgiving this year!
Today starts my countdown to Thanksgiving break! In 23 hours Nick, Bryan, and I will be on the road to Salem and heading towards food and family!
On a side note (pun intended), am I the only one who considers turkey more of the afterthought of the Thanksgiving meal. I always seem to put it on my plate first, but it’s the one thing I least enjoy eating. I love all the side dishes – the dressing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce (if it’s homemade), sweet potatoes, and even the corn and green beans, but the turkey is something I always doctor up with the cranberry sauce and potatoes so I can actually enjoy it. Now, I know turkey is probably the healthiest thing on the plate and eating it probably keeps me from eating too much pie after the meal since the protein is more filling and such, but still. If the turkey was absent, I’d probably be just as happy with the Thanksgiving meal.
Well, it’s time for me to sign off for now. Today there is still work to do, and I need to write up my packing list so packing will go much quicker tonight. I’m all about lists, for those of you who don’t know.

So I’m wondering something, can stress really make you sick? I know it can weaken one’s ammune system, but can it affect iron levels, blood sugar, things like that? Read the rest of this entry »

Mom would have been 62 years old today. She died over 7 years ago, but I still think about her all of the time. I wonder what she would think of Nick. I wonder if she would be living here in Springfield, visiting our house so she could pinch Nick’s little rolls all over and give him kisses.
I love you, Momma. Happy Birthday!

I’ve realized that through all the recent hassles, scares, annoyances, and just plain messes lately that each and every life experience is a learning experience that makes us not only more knowledgeable, but they also make us learn to trust ourselves and our instincts. Read the rest of this entry »

Yahoo posted an article about restaurants who have “gotten it right” in this economy. Here’s my problem, of the restaurants on the list that I’ve been to, they are places I’d rather not waste my money. Let’s look at the list. Read the rest of this entry »

I’m not ready for today to be Monday. We had a pretty busy weekend. I think all of Springfield was at the mall on Saturday. I decided to suck it up and take Bryan to JC Penney to see if they would take those coupons I talked about on this blog a little bit ago. Bryan has lost a lot of weight chasing little Nick around all day, so we went to look for him a new pair of jeans. He found two pairs he liked, both Arizona Jeans on sale for $15. We took them up to the register, presented my two coupons (one for $10 off and one for $15 off), and she took them, no problem! Total spent, $5.32 for two pairs of brand new jeans! So, I’ve learned my lesson. JC Penney online = bad. JC Penney store = ok.
Well, since this is my busiest work week of the year, I guess I should get back to it. I hope everyone had a good weekend!
