Bye, Foxy Ann

Posted by nattya61 on August 11, 2009

Bryan 003Our little Foxy Ann (officially Foxy Aurora Pace Kendall) died yesterday, Monday August 10, 2009 at 1:30PM. She was 10.5 years old. The little girl had spinal degeration and serious hip problems. By Saturday she couldn’t walk, by Sunday she couldn’t eat. She was in pain. She’d lost 3 pounds over the past two years. The vet said any “fix” probably wouldn’t work, and even if it did, it wouldn’t last for long. So, we made the decision to say “Goodbye.” We miss her terribly.

I got Foxy at the end of my freshman year of college in 1999. She went through everything with me. She started sleeping in my bed the night after Mom died in 2002. She got to nip at my friends and growl at the boys who came and went from my life. She loved Bryan from the start. The first night he stayed over, he slept on the couch and she slept on his belly.

Throughout my pregnancy, Foxy was there, wondering why my belly was getting so big and why she couldn’t jump on it anymore. And then she got to meet and play with Nicholas. She loved him, even though she was jealous of him and his crying annoyed her.

It just won’t be the same without her running up to me when I walk through the door at night.

What?!?!?! I was fully expecting her to be a grumpy old grandma someday. I’m so sorry, Natalie.
